What is Human Trafficking?
Human trafficking is the illegal recruitment, transportation, or harboring of people through force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of exploitation. This exploitation may include forced labor, sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, or organ trafficking. It is a serious violation of human rights affecting millions of people worldwide.
Types and Evolution of Human Trafficking in Africa
In Africa, human trafficking takes many forms, including child labor, forced marriage, sexual exploitation, and cross-border trafficking for forced criminality. Over time, traffickers have adapted their methods, increasingly using digital platforms, false job offers, and migration routes to exploit vulnerable individuals. Economic hardship, conflict, and lack of awareness continue to drive its spread across the continent.

The Journey from Silence to Strength
Voices Unchained was born in Abuja, forged from the harrowing testimonies of survivors who escaped the grip of human trafficking. Their stories revealed a sobering truth: awareness was merely the beginning. True restoration required a movement dedicated to justice and collective action.
